In my early years, I never dreamed my great love of animals would evolve into an international business. Working in veterinary hospitals and emergency pet clinics throughout the years allowed me to gain the knowledge necessary, not only to care for my own
How it all started
During 1998 I organized my first pet relocation of Criseyde to Stephanie and her family from Tennessee to California. Criseyde is gone now, but Stephanie and I remain friends after all these years.
Shortly after that, I was introduced to a couple of missionaries in Haiti. Dixie and John run an orphanage called God’s Littlest Angels. They care for abandoned babies and toddlers as well as helping families adopt. Our first international pet relocation was to Dixie and John. Nikki (Akita here) and Penny (Great Dane) were trained to secure the nursery and other children in their care.
For years I moved pets both domestically and internationally but on a very small scale. However, when my family was transferred to Costa Rica, all bets were off and the rules changed. I lived a nightmare after hiring a “pet transportation company” to assist in this adventure. Because I knew nothing about import rules of Costa Rica or how to get 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 birds and 3 children under the age of 7 there alone I sought professional assistance from a “reputable” company. Turns out they knew nothing about Costa Rica or how to get 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 birds and 3 children under the age of 7 to Costa Rica either. They did take a LOT of money, picked us up at 3:30 am and dropped us at the curb of JFK airport in New York with a skycap. The driver did wish me luck as he drove away.
When we got to the counter, I found that nothing had been done, no reservations had been made for my 4 legged family, the airline didn’t even know they were supposed to fly. The airline representative told me that my children could go, but I would have to leave my animals behind. Well, any loving pet owner will know THAT didn’t go over well.
After much hysteria and heartache, with the help of a very sweet TSA agent, we were able to get everyone on that plane and get to Costa Rica. It was one of the hardest things I had ever had to overcome, but we made it on the plane and to Costa Rica without too many more problems.
That was my inspiration to grow my business and build a network to help those families like mine. It is also now my mission….“To provide the most outstanding pet transportation experience – Helping pet owners find a better way minimizing stress throughout the process.”
